Welcome to the Sa Tanqueta Website.... Sa Tanqueta (which means 'the little sheep meadow') is a traditional style house near the village of Selva in the north of the island, at the foot of the beautiful Tramuntana mountains. The house has a two double bedrooms (one of which can be arranged as two singles), a large bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and a comfortable sitting area with a wood burning fire in a traditional fireplace. Outside there is a large terrace across the front of the house with a wood burning oven and large bbq. The house also has its own private swimming pool and a orchard with a covered patio. Sa Tanqueta is situated in an attractive and tranquil location, surrounded by farmland and orchards of fruit, olive and almond trees. It is a picturesque place to stroll, with beautiful views of the mountains. The house is on a quiet country lane but is only 5 minutes drive from the local markets, shops, cafes and celler restaurants of Inca and Selva. We send our best wishes to all our new and returning guests.... John and Sara |

Ronald, who looks after the house, will meet you to explain how everything works and to answer any questions. Swimming Pool - The recently built pool (approx. 5m x 3m) has steps leading up to a tiled seating area which has space for the sun loungers and chairs which are provided. The pool is a constant depth of 1.5 metres (4'9") and has built-in metal steps and an automatic filtering system. Orchard - To the side of the pool, between the two palm trees, are the gates leading to the orchard containing olive, almond, walnut, orange, mandarin, lemon and grapefruit trees and vines. There is also a large prickly pear cactus. You are welcome to pick any ripe fruit. In the orchard, next to a shallow pond, there is a covered patio with outdoor lighting and seats and sunbeds for relaxing. Parking - The house and orchard are safely enclosed by fencing with large wrought iron gates and there is parking for up to six cars behind the main gates.
The House The south facing house is built in the traditional style and stays at a comfortable temperature throughout the year. It has tiled floors throughout and wooden shutters on all windows. The Terrace - A large covered terrace runs right across the house and provides shade throughout the day. At one end of the terrace is a traditional Mallorcan wood burning oven and a large built-in bbq. There is plenty of space for dining on the terrace at the extendable wooden table. Sitting Room - The sitting room has a large wood-burning stove in a traditional fireplace, comfortable seating and plenty of storage space. The sofa can be converted into a comfortable bed for additional overnight guests. There are board games for our Winter guests. Kichen - The kitchen is fully equipped and has a double sink, a gas hob and oven with a built in grill. There is also a large fridge-freezer. There is a front loading washine machine located in the workshop. An iron and ironing board are also provided. A 'welcome pack' of basic food is provided. (Please let us know if you are vegetarian). Bedrooms - Both bedrooms have plenty of storage space and all bedding is provided. The front bedroom has a double bed, the rear bedroom has a bed that can be divided to form two singles. Sa Tanqueta is situated in the district of Selva, a quiet farming area at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains and is surrounded by groves of olive, almond and fig trees. There are also sheep in neighbouring fields. There are several vineyards (bodegas) nearby. At the front of the house is a quiet (tarmaced) lane which leads to the main Inca-Selva road just over 2kms (1mile) away. The rear of the house (pictured above) looks over the fields to the Tramuntana Mountains and you can also see Selva, which is the nearest town. This field at the back of the house is filled with poppies in the Spring. Inca, famous for its traditional Mallorcan restaurants and the centre for leather goods, is less than 5 kms (3 miles) away. Inca also has several supermarkets, excellent markets and a good range of restaurants, cafes and shops - as well as all the services you might need (doctor, dentist, taxi etc) Further afield, the beaches of Port d'Pollensa and Port d'Alcudia are about 20 minutes drive (or you could take the slower but prettier lanes). The capital, Palma, is approximately 30 minutes drive and there is also a train from Inca to Palma every hour. The beautiful mountain region is just behind the house and the central plain stretches out to the front. Peaceful and away from it all, Sa Tanqueta is the perfect base to explore Mallorca. |
